Is there a Pentax lens for 35mm that would equate to the 105mm f/2.4?

Hello

new to this forum. I proudly owned a Pentax 67 with the wonderful 105mm lens. I no longer have this lovely kit and was wondering if there is a M42 mount lens for my Spotmatic F that would come close to the 105mm in terms of crop, bokeh, image character. Hope you know what I mean. Thanks!

William

The 35mm equivalent FoV is 53mm. You’re not really going to match any other characteristics between formats.

However, if I were you I'd probably consider one of the Takumar 55mm f/1.8 variants:

I can't say if the rendering is anything like your favourite 105mm f/2.4, but it's very nice indeed. Not an expensive lens these days (depending on which variant you pick) and popular enough to move on easily if it's not what you hoped for...

Thanks. That is a useful start. I realise it is impossible to compare different formats, but I just want a 50mm lens that has nice characteristics. Will explore the 55mm you suggested. cheers

The closest equivalent would be a 50-55mm f/1.2, but they may be hard to find in m42 mount.
And it is generally more difficult to get the same quality on image character in a smaller format.

Any of the Pentax 50/1.8 or 50/1.4 lenses will match the 105 quite nicely. You aren't going to get anywhere near the image quality off of 35mm that you are used to seeing from your 6x7 though.

Can't go wrong with the super tak 1.4. One of my favorites, especially the 8 element version.
