Hi from Australia

I notice there are a few other Aussies on this forum ... G'day!

Now retired, I'd describe my photographic prowess as "keen amateur", with a passion for Pentax, with an interest in black and white processing in those early years.

My first Pentax purchase was a Spotmatic, back in 1969, straight after leaving school. I progressed to an ME Super when the Spotmatic died. I still have the ME Super. However it hasn't been used for many year.

My transition to digital was an *istDS and then my K-5. I'm currently looking to update ... while I'm keen on the K-3iii, I'm not sure my budget (or skill set) can justify that. I'll most likely settle on a K-70.

Regards
Bruce
Best wishes from down under.

Hi Bruce. Welcome from Mosquito Creek. For a moment there I thought you didn't have the skill set to spell Canberra either. You are very well equipped with the K-70 but don't worry too much about the skill set if your budget will stretch to the K-3iii. It is a great body and I am sure you would be getting good results with it very quickly. My K-3 is still enough of a challenge for me.

Hi PJ1

Hmm ... Mosquito Creek? Had to Google that. According to Google Maps there's one in Queensland and one in Victoria. Where are you?

G'day Bruce. Welcome from the Adelaide Hills.

Did you study at the philosophy department of the University of Woolloomooloo? Asking for a friend named Michael

Queensland - about 250 km from Brisbane.

Hang on ..... That was a Monty Python reference. Don't expect us to be on our best behaviour all the time, Bruce. Or any of the time, for that matter.

Don't expect the Spanish Inquisition, either.

The mind boggles ...

Welcome Bruce. I think we are in a similar demographic - retired, first Pentax a Spotmatic (mine 1970). My first digital was the *IstD, then a couple of newer ones followed by a K5 for a long while, before pulling the trigger on a K1ii.

Ah, a Monty Python reference, if there had been the Goon Show reference I may have had a better chance of picking up on it ... Needle Nardle Noo!

I guess he wasn’t in charge of the sheep dip, either.

Welcome, Bruce, from Hobart (the only one in Australia, although there are a few elsewhere).

Welcome to the community! For me there’s no skill set parameter. Just get the camera if you can afford it. I went for the k-70 and after two years I am still learning new tricks. A great camera btw.
