Hi guys!
Recently just got into photography and I thought it would be a good idea to start from the beginning (somewhat). Growing up as a kid, I remember how cool those film cameras looked. I never got the chance to try shooting them because everybody was really over-protective of their cameras (understandably). Now that I find myself a bit older, with a little more time on my hands (and money
) I thought I'd give it film photography a try. There is just something appealing about film cameras, where you have to get each shot perfect since there is no post to fall back to.
So I did my research and looked through the history of 35mm film cameras to see which cameras would be ideal to start with. I got lucky and found an older gentleman who was selling his Pentax MX for $75 CAD
. There was no way I would pass it up so I drove 2 hours away and got it. The camera is in beautiful condition, with little to no markings on the body. It came with a SMC Takumar 50mm f1.4, and the original half leather case for it (a bit oversized, gets in the way of the film advance lever). I fell in love right away, I could not stop touching and playing around with it. Luckily I ended up with a Pentax since I absolutely love the aesthetics of their lenses, specifically the M and K series. Definitely the nicest looking vintage lenses out of all the brands, hands down (for me anyway). Now I'm on a mission to collect as many lenses as I can lol.
This forum has been so helpful to me in learning more about Pentax. The information available here is amazing and I appreciate everyone who has contributed to this community.
I apologize for the long winded intro but it feels nice to vent out my my love for Pentax without people looking at me strange lol.
Thank you for your time, I look forward to lurking the forums with you all
