Hi there from Perth, Australia

Hi Everyone...
My name is Joe, and I'm a new'ish owner of a k200D bought about 3 months ago...

Always had an interest in photography before, but never seems to have made the jump into a SLR or DSLR dur to the "high costs" associated with it...

well, after sitting on the side line, even bought a Fuji P&S "fake DSLR" (Or they called it the Prosumer model ) a few years back, and bought my little baby now...

I'm still learning the basics at the moment, but it stuns me that even with my hack and slash approach, the K200D was easy enough for me to navigate around, and still managed to shoot some nice photos

Currently using a kit Sigma Lens, and a 300mm Sigma lens too... bought a Pentax flash but still yet to figure out how to use it correctly.... currently also looking at getting a set of wide/fish eyes lens for some landscape shots...

Looking forward to reading everyones' experiences, and hopefully learn a few tricks as well

cheers
~Joe

G'day Joe - welcome!

Another Aussie with a K200D! Must be something in the water (or lack of.....).

You've got the big lens side covered (wildlife?), and the 18mm side of the normal kit lens gives a fair wide angle for landscape. Though a good prime would be better (I loved my 24mm lens on my old Canon film SLR - equivalent to a 16mm on APS-C).

Anyhow, look forward to some great images of the West and those stunning sunsets......

Cheers

G'day from Kangaroo Island,
Looking forward to your first shots. (Also looking forward to the first test at the WACA. I think we'll get a run for our money this time).

May I suggest that you don't rush into spending a heap on lenses at this stage. Your kit lens is quite a versatile piece and you have a 300 as well. It would pay you to take lots of photos, learn your camera thoroughly, read widely and post your pickies and questions on this forum. You'll gradually get to know what type of photography you like to do most and therefore what lenses you'll need to help you. I know fish-eyes especially look pretty exciting but they're quite expensive and not a lens you'd use very much for general photography. I know people who've owned them and found they tended to sit in a drawer most of the time. Take your time and enjoy the process. They're not going to run out of lenses just yet!
Good shooting.

Hi guys...

Thanks for the welcome

yeah... will be holding back on spending on the expensive lenses... tempting as it maybe... but have my eyes on the Pentax 50mm f1.4 prime lens I saw at Camera house the other day

But did managed to go to a few cashy during the last weekend, and picked up a set of 28mm lens which I have taken somes shots yesterday and today...

just wondering though, do you guys load the "raw" photos, or use "edited" shots on to the forum for comments?
