Hey y'all! I am just getting into photography, having received a *ist DL for Christmas from my awesome wife. Any suggestions on starting books / websites / etc for a newbie?

wife's are great, eh??

I got my setup from my wife as a b-day/christmas present

there are plenty of tutorials and sites out there that deal with the generics of settings for particular scenes, but this will prob be your best resource for camera specific stuff..my recommendation, get out there and start shooting, learn what works for you and build on that

This site is a valuable tool for learning about your camera+lenses & photography. A book most of us have read & recommend is "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson. However the best way to learn is use your camera & take/make photos..shoot, shoot, shoot! Enjoy your new cam & the forum.
