Greetings from South Carolina

Hey yall!

I'm excited at finding this site! After much debate, I finally bought myself the Xmas present I have been wanting for quite some time now, a K100D with a few lenses. I have been quite pleased so far in my playing w/ the camera, but really want to get the most from it, which is why I'm here.

Right now, I'm getting about 1 good shot in 15 - 20...hopefully this site will help me bring that number down some.

Happy New Year to all in 2009!

Welcome aboard. Congrats on the present and I am sure you will be at a much better ratio of keepers in no time.

One keeper in 15 - hey, what's your secret?? I'm happy if I get two or three out of 100!
Welcome. We're all looking forward to some of your work, when you feel ready.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the great Christmas gift. I also shoot with a K100D so feel free to ask any product specific questions if you run into an unexpected situation.

Your ratio of keepers to trash is really tied to what it is you are shooting. When I shoot people (portraits, street scenes, etc..) my keeper ratio might be 1 in 5, but when I am shooting wildlife and sporting events my rate might go to 1 in 40-50. I guess what I am trying to say is don't spend too much time worrying about your keeper rate (after all you can always delete the bad ones and start fresh on a reformatted SD card), but keep praticing and you will surely improve.

My 2 cents worth,

Ray

Welcome to the forum -- from another South Carolinian. Newberry here.

re: keeper ratio -- I'm convinced that it's fully dependent on the age of my children.

newborn -- 1:1
toddler -- 1:5
2nd grade -- 1:5,000 (or maybe it just seems that way now)
