even the pros here are usually too modest to assume that title. we are a bit of a family, and always welcome the new guys with questions. welcome to the forums timberspine. I hope you enjoy yourself here and learn a lot. and most importantly share some photos!

and by the way the K2000 is a fine camera. I own the K-m myself and love it far more than I ever did my K110D. glad to see people taking interest in the K2000 as an entry camera. I can assure you that you got a far better camera in almost every respect than you would have got with entry level models from canon or nikon. but shhh.. that's a secret =)

heh. thanks for the welcome seamuis.

good to know that the k2000 is held in good regard by the experienced photographers.

lol@brand wars. when i tell people i got a new dslr, the obvious question is "which one?" ... and when I say "pentax", their response is almost always "why?". I just respond with a "why not?" ... and I always get a "why not canon or nikon?". my response: "i did my research!"

you are a very smart person and will fit right in! great response. as for the K2000, some folks here don't quite get it, and the white K2000 made a heck of a stir (in the worst way) but everyone here recognizes its abilities. that's one of the great things about Pentax. they make even their entry level equipment just as good as the rest of their equipment. with in body SR, SDM, the great 10.2 CCD from the K10D, the ability to use all K mount lenses, m42 lenses and even 6x7 and 645 lenses all in a very small form factor, whats not to love?

Welcome timberspine from the "other" side of the country.

The camera is only a small part of taking a quality photograph. You have chosen a great tool, now go out and become a craftsman. We are all here to help if you need it, but it won't be long and you'll be one of the teachers too.

Most of all, have fun. I know I do.

My 2 cents worth,

Ray
