Hello, Houston Tx

Hello,

Just signed up from Houston. I've lurked around some and decided to contribute.

Got a K100d a couple of months ago and am loving it. One of the reasons I bought it was to use my Dads old lenses. He has a Sears K1000 with an assortment of lenses. I have to say that the older lenses have become my favorites! The kit lens does not get much use.

Edwin

Hahaha - Funny you mention that thing about old lenses! They are surprisingly good stuff. I picked up a $10 Sears 135/2.8 that may have come off your Dad's Sears K1000 It's a great lens.

Welcome to the forums!

Yes, they are good lenses. I actually have one of the 135 2.8 sears lenses. I like quite a lot.

Welcome to the forum Edwin. You'll find lots of friendly people here. I like your avatar picture, did you take that with your K100D?

Took that one a couple of days ago with:
- K100d
- Tokina 35-135 M, not sure the aperture or shutter. I tend to forget what I set the manual lenses at but probably around aperture 4. Slightly out of focus and cropped quite a lot for the avatar.

It is of one of my Rat Terriers, Teves.

One of the older lenses I have 'borrowed' from my Dad. He got a kick out of seeing it on a modern digital camera the other weekend.

You'll have a kick out of seeing some Nikon and Canon people when they see old glass on your camera too! Then even moreso when they see that the glass is keeping with or outdoing what their lenses are capable of too!

Gotta love the backward compatibility!

Thanks Roy,

You are just a little north of me. My wife and I are actually planning to move to the Dallas area this year.

I took a look at the Boston Terrier page, I shouldn't have read the "How could you page". Made me sad . I think you will be happy to know that both my terriers have been rescued, one walked up to my work one day and the other from a shelter. They have been great. I need to upload some pictures of them since they are my most willing victims, I mean subjects.
