Hi from Brisbane Aus

Gday guys my name is James, I live in Brisbane Australia I shoot with a K200D, Sig 10-20, and 18-200. I'm looking into a Sig 17-70 as a nicer walk around/portrait lens as the economy has made Tamron 28-75/Sigma 24-70 way to expensive.

Looks like a great site,

Cheers!

Welcome James. The Sigma 17-70 is a great walk around lens, which many members here use & you'll find plenty of info/sample pics in the forum. This is a great site and I hope you'll enjoy the forum

Hey mate, welcome to pentaxforums.

The 17-70 is a good walkaround lens; I use the K10D + 17-70 combo myself.

Hey, Seamuis, you're starting to sound like an Aussie. Would you like us to adopt you, mate? Make some room, boys, the man looks thirsty.

And G'day James. Haven't been to Brissie for years - nice town. There are quite a few forum members from up there. I'm sure you'll catch up with them as you browse the forum. Enjoy.

G'Day James!

Welcome. I'm sure you'll get lots out of the community here!

As a few have noted - we Aussies are becoming a largish membership....

Thanks for the welcome guys.

I mostly photograph trains, and landscapes, but a few friends of mine have asked me to do some album shots, hence the need for a 17-70. (On a pretty tight budget.)

Here is one of my favourites...shot with a *istDL (remember those?) and a Sigma 18-125mm

ISO 200, 6 sec exp, f/5.6, 30mm (equiv 45mm)

and another with the K200D.

ISO 400, 1/2000, f6.7, 34mm (equiv 51mm) with a Sigma 18-200.

To do otherwise would be lying, and the Vintage I'm especially fond of, followed by the Coopers Red. As for the cat's urine packed under various CUB brands I best refrain from commenting on for fear of being moderated.
