New K200D Owner

Just introducing myself,

Purchased my first SLR 2 weeks ago, a K200D with kit 18-55. Loving the pictures compared to my quite old p&s. Having heaps of fun learning how to take decent photos and just taking photos in general.

Main reason i went with pentax was the large range of older lenses i could use. I dug out my dads old K1000 and Pentax M 50mm 1:2 lens. Have been playing with that and its awesome fun shooting on full manual (although im sure i have no idea what im doing).

I made the mistake of buying a few cheap lenses on ebay, most of which dont work in some way. I'm hoping to collect a few cheaper prime lenses to play with, so would welcome some suggestions of decent primes for someone with a limited budget (spend far too much of my money on motorsport)

I'm hoping to get a 35mm, 24mm and something to go between the 50 and a 135 (1 of the ebay lenses is a decent vivtar 135mm f2.8 that seems to be in good condition).

Some of the pics ive taken are on picasa - Picasa Web Albums - Jeremy

G'day Jezza! Welcome!

Another Aussie! Must be something in the air......or the quality of the light....

You're obviously discovering the joys of the K200D.

Since your shooting in manual, try out the green button - it will work out the shutter speed and aperture for you. For the old manual aperture lenses, set the aperture and hit the green button for the shutter speed to be set! Neat! (Hopefully you've found the configuration setting that allows manual aperture lenses)

You've got some nice images on that page - like the clouds in particular!

See you around the forum!

Cheers

yeah i read up how to use the manual lens properly (on this forum actually, lol) so know about the setting and the green button.

the storm cloud pics were actually taken with my P&S, think it was just a great cloud, would have been hard to get a bad pic of it. you can still notice the large amounts of noise in it though, even in full sunlight, white clouds, ISO80 that camera has heaps of noticable noise

cheers
