Hello from SE Pennslyvania

Hello all. My name is Dan and i'm a proud owner of a Pentax K100D DSLR, bought about a month ago. I'm a rank amateur with it and am hoping to learn to use it to its' best advantage.

Up to this point, i've mostly only used P& S cameras (Canon SD1000 & Kodak C813 -Canon bought the big one when its' lens froze in the open position).

I've 2 lenses sofar (Pentax SMC DA 18-55mm kit lens & Tamron AF 70-300mm). I ebayed 2 manual lenses to play with: 2 K-mount 1:1.7 & 1:2 50mm.(bought these under a friends advice to use the camera other than as a big P&S).

I'm more staring in AWE at how substantial the forums are. I lost myself for 3 hours last night just looking at discussions of F-stop and ISO. Alot of food for thought.

Forums can suck you right in if you don't watch out. Much of that time can be better spent taking photos and turning them into pictures, but an occasional sally into the forum can produce some interesting, if not particularly useful, results.

Welcome to an international (well, mostly just English-speaking) group of helpful, argumentative and generally nice people.

In addition to buying a few lenses from other forum members, I just purchased a PX-7, so I can go try my hand with film. Now, time to find where I can get film for it...................
