New guy to beat up!

Hello,

I am newly registered on this forum, but have become very familiar with it in recent months. I have been seriously looking at new DSLRs for almost two years now, and have finally settled on a K20D. The posts on this site have been most informative and helpful in my decision making process. I am careful by nature, as you can tell by how long it took me to decide on a camera, and this is a substantial investment. I have been shooting for a while with the camera, and must say that it is everything that it has been represented to be by you guys and the company itself. One of the main reasons that caused me to finally solidify my decision was my baby sister's engagement this past fall. She will be getting married in July and has hired an amateur photographer to shoot the wedding. While I have no problems with the photographer's past work ( I have seen many samples, and she is unquestionably very good at what she does), she has never shot a wedding before. It seems that her specialty is outdoor work, and this is a definate plus, because the ceremony and reception will be outside. I am going to be strictly backup for her, or an assistant if she will allow it. I know you guys have a world of information under your hats, and in the coming months I hope to extract a bit of it. I don't only need wedding info, but general info about DSLR photography. As you can see in my bio, I am not exactly new to photography or even to SLRs, but there is much room for improvement. I would like to thank all of you for the info I have gleaned in the past from browsing the site, and what you will offer in the future. (And for letting me ramble endlessly!)

Presto

Presto,

Welcome to the Pentax Forum. Many of us have taken wedding before and know the pressure that the wedding of a loved one puts on a photographer. Hone your skills by testing yourself in every way to be creative, yet accurate in what you shoot. Ask yourself, would I want to see that every day for the next 10 years? If you can say yes, you're better than me, and probably good enogh for that loved one. (see you're not the only one who rambles)

Show your work often. You'll get wonderful constructive critisms (and a few ramblings like mine).

Welcome!

Ray

By the way, I'm already envious of you because you own the camera I want so badly.

Is it necessary to beat up a new guy? I'm not great with unneccessary violence, but if I must. Consider it done.

Welcome the bruises will disappear in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the welcome. I few of the responses were a bit disturbing (mainly the one about the whip and gloves ), but I appreciate them nonetheless.
