Bought a Samsung GX20 and Schneider kit lens

Hello folks.

I'm Rufus from the Midland area of the UK.
I've been taking pictures for a while, and mostly using Canon.

I'm going to be careful how I say this next bit, as I got in a spot of trouble elsewhere....

3 Days ago, I aquired a Samsung GX20 with the Schneider 18 55 kit lens.
Whilst I'm enjoying the GX, I have some issues with the lens.

How do you people feel about it? Mind you, I realise that it isnt the same as the Pentax lens, which I'm told is a MK2 version.

I'm going to buy a tamron 17 50 2.8, as I'm told that that is quite reasonable.
Is that so?

Anyway. wont bore you, I'll just leave a quick address, if I may.
These are my first Samsung/Schneider images.

The gallery with no name or reason. Photo Gallery by Rufus at pbase.com

If the GX20 = K20D in terms of sensor resolution then you would be better off with the Mk2 kit lens. The first version of the kit lens was released with the first 6MP DSLR cameras Pentax made. The Mk2 was released because the 14MP sensor showed the weaknesses of the Mk1 lens. If the Schneider lens is the Mk1 design then you will probably find some issues with its performance.

Take a look on this link and see what you can get out of the kit-lens. Both the MkI and the MkII. It really isn“t a bad little lens.

Ah, yes!

Those images are quite enlightening....... Thanks for that link. PFH.

Mr Apollinax..... Yes, it's a K20D in Samsung form. I bought the GX rather than the K, simply because it was a little cheaper.
