Looks like I haven't posted before

...remarkable what you forget. I signed in ages ago when dpreview was having one of its not so good times and several members came over here.

Anyway, I've used Pentax for ages, but I don't consider myself an expert in this field.

All the best

You are not alone.

I got an email as well to remind me that I haven't posted yet. Too much work and not enough time for photography. I really need to change that...

Suspicious

I just got an E-mail saying that I need to post here because the Lords of the Forum "prune user accounts with suspicious e-mail addresses, URLs, or profile fields that may have been generated by spammers or automated robots."

Imagine my surprise and pleasure at reading that.

Here's your post.

Ditto

The computer is telling me that I'd better make a post or get culled.

The only Pentax camera that I have at the moment is a ZX-30 film camera,
but I have a zillion old M42 and K-mount manual focus lenses, some of
which are really good. I especially like the 50mm F1.4 Asahi lens. It's very
sharp and works great in dim evening light. I am currently mounting them
on an Olympus E-510, with adapters. That works, but I would never have
bought the E-510 if I had known then what I know now. It's a noisy piece
of junk, highly over-rated, and overpriced too.

My next DSLR may well be Pentax, if only to continue using those legacy
Asahi lenses -- and Asanuma, and Kiron, and Vivitar, and Tokina, and
Komine...

So I am particularly curious about which Pentax DSLRs use the Sony
sensors, and which use the Samsung. And I'm curious about the noise
levels of each.

Have a good day.

And I'm another who got the dreaded email!

Still learning to use my camera (sorry, it's a GX-20 not K20D) and have found this site very helpful. Thanks.

Haven't posted yet / lens question

Count me on this list of "interested yet just can't find the time to post" too.
BTW, what is the preferred way of posting? Would you like photos uploaded to here directly or can I post my flickr URL? I'd be happy to receive feedback on any of my photos.

I'm using a K200d (first digital SLR but I go way back with a K1000). I haven't had enough time or money to move beyond the kit lens but expect to one day. Any lens suggestions for studio quality portrait photography? If there is a forum already devoted to such a question, I'd be happy to be pointed there.

Thanks,
Paul
