Hi! I`m new here.

I`ve been lurking on here for a while now, first as part of my pre-shopping DSLR research, and then again for tips once I bought the K100D last week. Loving it, by the way. It`s my first SLR camera - I`ve been shooting digital for a few years on a canon IXY, and film on an old yashika, a much older Fed, and a few toy cameras (holgas and lomos).

I`m currently based in Kushiro, on the east coast of hokkaido. Been out here since some time in 2003. I do a fair amount of landscape and nature photography because... well, there`s a lot of it around, really.

So, erm.. yeah. That`s me.

Hokkaido is located in the north end of Japan, Kushiro being a city at the east pacific coast. Hokkaido is the largest prefecture (similar to Canada's provinces) in Japan.

Sorry, Hokkaido is the northernmost island in Japan. Sapporo beer comes from here. Kushiro is... a lot like Thunder Bay, but in a good way. And a bad way, come to that.

2 Hours north of Toronto, would that be muskokas, kawarthas, bruce or haliburton highlands with a fast car?

ya, they are all about 2 hours away, give or take.
Sapporo bought a canadian brewer.... I belive it is the brick brewing company, but could be mistaken (one of our smaller breweries though)
great beer that sapporo

I bet it isn't as cold as thunderbay

Like a typical American with bad world geography skills, I've heard of Sapporo beer, but not Hokkaido! Thanks for the geography lesson. That's one of the wonderful things about this forum is we get to meet people from all over the world.

Looking forward to seeing some pictures
