I am a total DSLR photography noob. Just hours ago, I ordered my first DSLR camera:

K20D (body only)
Pentax SMCP-FA 50mm f/1.4 Lens
Pentax SMC P FA J Telephoto zoom lens - 75 mm-300 mm - f/4.5-5.8 AL
an extra Pentax battery
a cheap-o Tamrac bag
"Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson
Magic Lantern Guide for K20D

I've spent the last few months looking at lots of different cameras and talking to some of my photographer friends about their gear choices. I read so many good things about the k20d and the price was right. I know the learning curve will probably be greater than if I would have gotten something a little more user-friendly that caters to people just graduating from P&S....but I was feeling brave.

Wow, that will be a great start. Keep the 50mm on the camera for the first few months and you will learn a lot about photography.

And to think that I started out with a Zenit-E + Industar 50mm f/3.5...
