Greetings from Indiana

I have been lurcking around this forum over a year and thought it was about time I introduced myself. My name is Jay. I live in a lttle town outside Indianapolis, Indiana. I am currently retired and my passion is to travel and take pictures.

I am an avid Pentax user. I have had a Pentax camera since the days of the Ashai Spotmatic and the Honeywell ME . Currently, I have a K10D/18-55. I sometimes use some of my old legacy lenses. To help treat my serious LBA, I have the following lenses: DA* 16-50, DA* 50-135, DA 55-300, DA 10-17 Fisheye and a DA 40mm limited.

From what everyone says on the forum, the K20d sounds like a great camera. Now, I want to upgrade the body. I have patiently waited for the price to come down. Recently, as you know, there seems to be some real bargins. However, I am having second thoughts.

I wonder if the recent K20D price reductions warrant the upgrade at this time. Perhaps, as some suspect, if it is a signal that Pentax will soon be introducing the next generation (K30D).

I always read with interest the speculation on the next new features. Of course, I run the risk of always waiting for the next best thing.

Is it time to udate or time to wait?

Welcome to the forum, from a fellow Hoosier (well, not a native one but a current one). Look forward to your comments/questions/input.

The K20D is a great camera. It's likely that the next gen will be even better (in some respects at least) but for sure it will be substantially more expensive that the K20D is now. Buying one generation behind is a very smart strategy if you you want to maximize value.

Welcome, Jjay!

My wife is from NW Indiana and I lived in Wabash IN for some years before moving to CA - no snow-blowing now...

The K20D is a great camera and I fully agree with dadipentak. The next one will probably be greater, but it will not change just how good the K20D is - and if the price continues to drop, what good value it represents.
