I was a Pentax film user until a few years ago.
My past equipment included PZ1p, Tokina ATX28-70/2.8, FA300/4.5, Tokina ATX400/5.6, which was sold off a long time ago, the first time I moved to Taiwan. (I'm back-and-forth several times a year now.)
I kept a Super Program, M20/4, A24/2.8, A50/1.4, FA50/1.4, A1.4xTC-S, Tamron Adaptall 70-200/4.
My typical kit was 20, 24, 50, 50*1.4, and sometimes 70-200/4, it all fit into a waist-pack.
My favorite focal length on film were 24 and 50, with the 24mm lens being my always-on lens.
When Pentax introduced APS-C bodies, it was a crushing blow to my acquired lens system, in regards to the wide-angle prime-lens habit. I eventually got an advanced compact (Richoh GX8 equiv. 28-85mm (equiv.22.5mm with the 0.8x converter.) to satisfy my needs. It's also nice for carry-on luggage!)
Occasionally, I would un-box my hibernating SMC primes and get wistful and then start to reacquaint myself with the Pentax DSLR line, but after the portability of a compact camera, it was hard to justify a relatively big, heavy body that required a relatively big, slow and expensive lens to get wide. Oh, where was the APS-C equivalent of a small, fast wide like a 24/2.8 or 28/2.8 (i.e. 16, 17 or 18/2,8)?
But finally, with the introduction of the tiny and light K-m and the supposed arrival of the DA15/4, it's starting to look interesting. Also, the apparent quality of newest and very small DAL18-55 kit lens is intriguing. And it's hard to argue with the price.
Thus, a revised Pentax system makes some kind of sense again: {15, 20, 50, 50*1.4}mm or {15, 24, 50, 50*1.4}mm or {15, 28~55, 50*1.4}mm.
(The DA21 is also interesting but it is a bit slow and narrow, and I already have the M20 and will have the DAL18-55 which cover the same range. Hoping for a DA17/2.8 one day!)
Lurking here recently doing research on the newer products (and older ones, that's the great thing about Pentax...was very close to going Four-Thirds with Olympus, but no cheap old lens market to play around in.)
Then saw the photos posted in the "M-club" section (
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/27739-m-club.html) just blew me away and were a huge inspiration to get back into it and to register for this forum.
So, it's time to rejoin the fray. I'm just about to pull the trigger on buying the K-m.
