Greetings from Calgary, Canada

Greetings fellow Pentaxian. My name is Richard from Canada. It's spring already but Calgary is still in a deep freeze, forcing me to do my photography hobby indoors.

My interest in photography first started when I was 10, reading the manual to my Dad's Nikon FE2 and learning things like aperture, shutter speed and depth of field. I then took photography classes at my junior high school, learning photography techniques using a Pentax K1000 and how to process film and develop prints in the dark room.

I bought my first digital camera back in 2000, a Fujifilm 4800z and it wasn't until last year that I bought my first DSLR, a Pentax *ist DL2. It was my DL2 was really sparked my interest in photography again. I recently upgraded to the K100D and bought some more "serious" lenses, a Sigma 17-70mm and Pentax FA 50mm 1.4.

I'll keep on learning to develop my photography skills and I know this forum will help me along the way. Thanks for reading.

Welcome to the forum Richard, I'm impressed that a 10 year old was interested in learning stuff like DOF, aperture, etc. Sounds like you might be teaching some skills along with developing some!

Hello, fellow canadian and welcome aboard!

get place to be an learn
sounds like you got a great start in photography and the K100 is going to do you very well.
good choice in lenses... I have both but the 50 1.4 is fully manual, which is a breeze with a pentax.

looking forward to your shots,

cheers
