Oh my... how do you guys choose your nick names? I don't know but I guess you can ask SupremeMoFo.... Seriously, after a few years here you may find your nick embarrising. Or maybe not.

For the camera... it is what it is, a well known Pentax 35mm SLR camera. Any book about analog photography, at the nearest library f eks, will help you out.

Lol, but now what effect will it have at this forum?

SLR = Single Lens Reflex, the designation differed it from the cameras using two lenses, one for the viewfinder and one for the film. Ancient history now.

Does my camera have 2 "lenses". Like a smaller one attached to a bigger one. Im looking at manuals and i got the lens off. I guess it must be only 1 casue 2 connected together doesnt make sence.

EDIT: oh god edit edit edit SLR:single lens........

EDIT: my picture counter goes from 32 to 25 and back and worth..

Welcome to the forums!

I can't recall how many folks around Chicago are lurking around here now. I had a chance to fool around with a camera like your a while ago. Very fun! I won't repeat the info already given to you above, but I can't wait to see a few pictures that you snap with that camera

Hi

I have one of those cameras. I've used it more than ay other camera. It's sooooooo easy to use compare to modern cameras and has produced my best images. Great for taking on holidays as it's strong adn you can really throw it around.

Have fun!

The K1000 is great for learning about exposure, aperture, depth of field, focusing, etc. because EVERYTHING is manual from setting the ISO to winding the film, choosing the aperture and shutter speed. It's a real workhorse (I've had mine for close to 30 years) and you'll have a lot of fun
