Well...anyway...
I also just bought a K20d (about a month ago).
I have been meaning to get a DSLR for many years now, but have (strangely) put it off until last autumn. -I bought a Canon 450d (Rebel XSi or something such in USA) in the tax free store when I was returning to Iceland from visiting friends in Norway.
I had read a lot (!) of reviews and I knew that the 450d had gotten good reviews, but still I didnīt actually mean to buy it when I did. But I was in the tax free store at Keflavik airport and, -well, -just went for it :-)
Then a week or so later, I went to a camera store here in Reykjavik to buy a (ca.) 70-300mm zoom, but learned to my dismay that the price difference of the (basically same) lens with or without shake reduction was about 40%!!!!!
I was also somewhat unhappy with the controls, and the camera felt a bit cheap and plasticky to me.
I called the tax free store and asked if I could return it, but I was told that since it was bought outside the tax zone, it was not allowed(!!!) to return it! (Even though this store has several outlets in Reykjavik)!
I was....shall we say.....slightly unhappy with that ;-)
-But after calling at least two supervisors, I did have that confirmed.
So my options were to "settle" for a camera that I had in effect been saving for for some years, but was unhappy with, or to sell it.
So about a month ago I sold the darn thing ;-) (sorry about that quip, all Canon enthusiasts) ;-)
(It was still virtually unused because I had been trying to return it).
I went out the very next day and invested (!) in a Pentax K20d (and I couldnīt be happier) :-D
Best regards,
Karl Trausti from Iceland
And a warm welcome to you too, Karl!
