Hi all --

I've been lurking around, but decided it was time to introduce myself... I'm a philosopher (doing my grad studies in Boston) with a not-so-old (about 6 years)--but serious--photographic bent. (Which tends to interfere with the progress of my thesis...) I bought my first DSLR, a K200d, in February this year, and now I'm learning the beginner's stuff while hopelessly trying to resist the urge to buy new lenses.
I've read and enjoyed all the posts (through RSS feed) for a month and a half. I like this forum and the site in general (with its very useful lens review page). There is something about "pentaxforums.com", isn't it?
I'll post some pictures in a week or so.

The irony is that in my PhD thesis I argue that personal autonomy is not autonomy of the will--since, independently of the strength of one's will, willing is a conflicted state--but consists in a state of self-government, in which one does not identify with/attach to anything. Needless to say, my identification with my photography has greatly intensified lately. (Although I think one can distinguish between passion and identification. The passionate individual is never disillusioned, precisely because s/he does not identify with anything; that is, s/he does not make self-fulfillment dependent on the success of some project.)
