Definitely the right choice for me.

It's a little late for an intro, but who cares..

I'm Essi from Vancouver and I'd like everyone to know that I just got into the DSLR world this past Christmas. I spent so long (~3-4 mos.) deciding what camera to get.

I looked past all the Canikon BS marketing and settled for a K200D because I understand that liveview is not the most important thing, but a well-made, well-priced, and well-understood camera would be.

After more research into Pentax's history and quality products, I knew this was the right choice. So far, I'm almost 6 months in and my shots are getting better and better and I have the Pentaxforums users to thank for all of their advice.

Hope to learn more and I'm sure I will with this dedicated, knowledgeable and supportive online community.

Thanks,
esman7

Welcome to the forum! I also have a 6 month old K200D I can't think of a better camera for someone with some PS experience who wants to transition to DSLR.

Well done for seeing through the marketing, and just looking at what the camera has to offer.
Great choice.
Look forward to seeing some of your shots online.

It is a beautiful city! I'd like to take some more night shots now that I have my tripod. I'll post some soon as I will try to get some cool cityscapes with all the bridges in sight.

We're looking foward to see more of the city during the 2010 Olympics !

Our summer Olympics (Atlanta) in 1996 was real interresting. I know your city is international but Atlanta was not. What a culture shock for these southerners. I was amazed how many countries don't bathe regularly or use deordorant !
