Newbie from Australia

Hi!

After browsing some useful advice and reviews on this website I thought I'd actually register and take a closer look. I have owned a K100D now for almost 2 years, and I've learnt so much about photography in that time! I've just ticked over 10,000 photos recently, and a couple of months ago I shot my first wedding using my K100D. I plan to expand my lens collection again soon, and I'm also hoping to upgrade my camera body by the end of the year.

I love macro and portrait photography in particular, but I'd like to develop my skills in all areas. I am very much aware that I still have plenty to learn. I love the weight of my Pentax, the fact that it uses AA batteries (no chance of running out of battery with four sets of rechargeables in the bag), and the fact that I can get lenses for my camera that are a fraction of the price of other brands. Not to mention that it takes beautiful photos!

Rayenna, welcome. I see in your profile that the longest FL you have in your lenses is 70mm. Are you planning to get a longer prime or zoom?

Dan.

Hi Rayenna.
Welcome - another Aussie.
Great stuff.
The K100D was my first dSLR and it was awesome.
As for upgrading it along with new lenses, do you have any ideas?

Absolutely. At the moment I have my eye on an 85mm f1.4 (Vivitar, possibly), and eventually I'd also like to get the Sigma 105mm f2.8 macro or the Pentax 100mm f2.8 macro. I do also plan to get a tele-zoom for travel (an 18-200 or 28-300, I'm still undecided on that front).

I haven't had a chance to watch a weather forecast in the past couple of days, but it wouldn't surprise me. Ice on the windscreen this morning was fun! But sun glare on the wet road is definitely not fun.
