Hi from NZ

I'm Brian from New Zealand and a recent convert to digital photography. Having owned many pentax SLR's over the years (from the K1000 to the ME super) I purchased a K100D just prior to a trip to the Caribbean about two years ago. I am now a full convert to digital and have just upgraded to the K20D with a 16 - 45 mm zoom and really loving the new camera. I spend a lot of my recreational time in the outdoors and invariably bad weather. Although the K20D is weather proof I still have reservations about taking an electronic camera with me (having had the ME Super die on me in the hills) so I may still use my K1000 or OM1 for the extreme conditions!

Welcome Brian. It takes a a couple of times shooting in wet, rainy weather to become comfortable and trust the weather sealing, but believe me, it does work well. Enjoy the forum

I've shot in light rain with my noon-weathersealed K100D with no ill effects - you'll be fine.

Of course, being that you are in New Zealand, the pressure is on for you to provide awesome landscape shots.

Hey Brian, welcome.

We have our own spot on here - Kiwi Pentaxians. You're very welcome to swing by. There's a few Wellies here.

I've used my K20D in some very wet conditions, though have to use a plastic bag over my Sigma lens, at least not worrying about the body getting wet is less stressful.
