Hello from Virginia

I've got K10D I bought about 2 years ago, and an old MX I got from my father. Love them both. Still trying to evolve from being a shap-shot photographer into a good one. This is a pic I took last year in Colorado.

Hello PlumBob,
I enjoy being a snapshot shooter using a 3 lb. contraption and a fannypack. I feel so...touristy! Like Mel, I am wondering where you are; if you are close enough to do personal handoffs with Marketplace transactions. At a minimum, you can make the next Eastern Shore get together.

Keep on snapping. Welcome to the forum!

Hey, didn't you and the others who just posted read the forum rules about Virginians not being allowed in here? Just kidding, of course, and welcome to the forum plumbob. Any relation to Spongebob?

Welcome...I'm new here myself, although have been lurking for a few months before purchasing my K20D. That picture looks like Garden of the Gods to me.

Indeed it is the Garden of the Gods. Had an opportunity to visit during a business trip to Colorado Springs.

Thanks to you both.

Squarerigger, I know Williamsburg well. Lived there for four years when I was at W&M. Great little town.

Its such a small, small world...er, state. I lived in Arlington for 2 years (Fairlington section off Shirley Hgwy) then Annandale for 5 more when bigger house in the 'burbs was needed. Sure was impressed with "the big city" when we moved there in the '80s. Crystal City underground was my favorite back in the day. But I'm from the sticks thus easily impressed.

Plumbob, you probably have some real neighborhood camera stores you can go to. The advantage of a real city. I miss that part along with the choice of dining in DC.

There are a few. But when I bought my camera I got it online from one of the big New Tork outfits. Can't beat the price.

I'm in PWC. Kind of right in the middle, equal distance from both freeways.

So true. But I get the itch to browse for small accessories in person.
Tough to do when my only camera stores are down to a single Ritz and a Best Buy.

How about you Mel, is PWC swimming in mom/pop camera shops or do you suffer with only a Best Buy?

There used to be a shop out Sterling-way that had lots of used Pentax glass. Like some of the 1970s pancakes. But last I was out there I couldn't find it. It may have closed. Penn Camera is probably the best store near me.

ETA: Ritz is teh suk. The only reason I go in there is to get my hands on a camera to see how it feels.
