I am relatively new to this forum, although I have been a member of the "other one" for a while.
Photography was something I always wanted to do, but because I am severely sight impaired I never thought I could. Now, thanks to digital technology, I can have a guide dog AND a nice camera at the same time! ... and take as many bad picture as necessary to get a one good one, with the only extra cost being my time, which I am happy to spend.
I'm still shooting with my *ist DL but I hope to have a K10D before long, and I've managed to acquire some nice lenses along the way. Figuring out what works for me is mostly a trial-and-error process, so I look forward to reading about other's experiences and picking up tips.
Welcome, Buffy. This forum rocks! The members here are quite knowledgable and are always willing to extend a helping hand. Just don't get caught up in some of the "heated arguments"... they'e pointless
Welcome to the forum Buffy, I think it's wonderful that you are able to enjoy photography. I imagine you get some strange looks when you have your guide dog and camera. You'll find the people here are friendly and very helpful. I think there are a couple of people from the Boston area, and the New England ranks are growing day by day!
