Hello, Pentax world!

Can't believe I didn't find this forum earlier.

Few years ago, friend of mine made me Pentax fan.
I didn't have Pentax film camera, but my first DSLR was *ist made me happy after point and shoot piece.

Recently I've upgraded to K200D... well I am not professional and always on a budget.

Like everything about it, except ..... lenses... choice is not as good as for Nikon/Canon especially in low price range.

Anyway, hope to find answers to some questions I have.

Welcome! There is a wealth of information and knowledgeable people here (I'm not one of them), so don't be afraid to ask if you can't find what you need by searching.

G'day mate and welcome to the forum.
Hope you find what you're after here.
Now, how much choice do you want in lenses?
Any K-mount lens will fit any Pentax dSLR, and give you shake reduction on each as well...
You have just about every FL from 14mm to 300mm in a lens that can offer f/2.8 available to you, and outside this range, there are still more lenses that can satisfy your desire for more...

200D is a great camera. I own it myself.

As for lenses, i've held back on newer lenses because they are still a bit expensive, but as Ash said, you have a HUGE choice of older lenses. Makes for a bit of fun too using the old glass with a K->M42 adapter.

I meant choice on "lower price end"
With unlimited budget you can get great lenses for any brand, but ...
there are not many budget lenses for Pentax mount and they are still more expensive then other brands.
compare:
Nikon 50mm f/1.8 - $130 new on amazon,
Pentax 50mm f/1.4 - $250 (Can't find 1.8 in that price range )

Buying used over the internet, without looking at it first is always a lottery ...

Welcome, borysr.
If you're constrained by your budget (and most of us are!) you'll surely want to get the best value for your dollars that you can. I'd suggest to you that a $130 new lens isn't going to give you anywhere near the quality of glass that you'd get for the same price from a used Pentax lens. I understand your concern about buying secondhand, but one of the advantages of joining this forum is that you have access to the Marketplace sub-forum, where you can buy directly from fellow forum-members. That's peace of mind.

Take your time, mate. Look around, ask around, browse the lens review sub-forum. There's no shortage of lenses out there and the right ones will come along when you need them.

Welcome... from another newbie on this site!

I hadn't thought about the "cheap price" side of things with buying lenses. I shoot professionally and was drawn to Pentax after the recent output of higher quality lenses offered at better prices than the Canon/Nikon counterparts.
