Hello

I have been visiting this forum for a couple of weeks now and decided I should register.

I purchased a *istds five years ago with the arrival of my daughter, mostly because my dad had an old spotmatic and some lenses he said I could use. It has been locked on auto until three months ago when a friend began taking pictures of birds. It sounded like a lot of fun so we bought a cheap 100-300 lens to try it out. We were hooked almost immediately.

The cheap lens was replaced by a DA*300. My wife chose the Canon 50d, I chose to stay with Pentax and my K-7 arrived a couple of days ago.

We go out every time that work allows and are having a great time.

Greetings from another newbie on this sight!
That DA* 300 sounds like an incredible lens.
Enjoy!

Great intro, Fly.
Welcome aboard - you'll find this forum quite resourceful for honing in your skills in birding.
Congrats on the K-7 - it'll be a whole new world to you stepping up from the *ist DS.
Enjoy shooting!

BB- Thanks! I really like the lens. I am not even sure where i put the cheapie i bought.

Ash- Thank you! The camera has so far been wonderful. I splurged when i bought it and also bought the 35mm macro. When I get home from work my camera's chip is full of bug and flower pictures. Apparently my wife likes it too.

No kidding. If I hadn't bought my K10d before my daughter was born, there was no way I could do it afterward.

At any rate, welcome and happy snapping!
