G'day

Ive been a member here for a while and never got around to posting anything.

Anyway, we (my dad and myself) picked up a K100d yesterday so we can make use of some pentax lenses we acquired for free. It was more of an impulse buy as we had gone in there so i could pick up my (now dont hate me) canon 400d.

I am certainly astounded with the capabilities of the pentax. Works like a treat with all of the lenses we have.

It is good to know that i have a reliable, extremely capable 2nd body in my possession now.

So, hi everyone

Take care.

Aside from the fact that many of us are dedicated Pentax users our common bond is photography so why would I "hate" or dislike someone because they have a different brand of camera.

Welcome to PentaxForums I'm sure you'll enjoy it here especially when you start telling us which and how you aquired those free lenses.

The lenses i already had were:

Tokina 17mm f3.5
Ricoh 35-200mm f4
Chinon 50mm f1.7
Sigma 24-80mm f3.8
Tamron 2x Teleconverter

And then the Sigma 18-50mm f3.8 that we got with the camera.

I also have a Sigma EF500 ST flash that i had for another pentax slr.

It is certainly enough to keep me going for a while and i just love the depth of field with the 50mm. You could say that i am a very happy snapper

Sure does. Although there seems to be something wrong with it because it looks cloudy through the camera and the pics are a bit cloudy too.

Thought i would post back in here to reintroduce myself.

I recently sold my canon gear to my dad and i got his k100d + cash. I couldnt be happier now, the k100d feels so much more solid that the 400d.

Also, it did turn out to be fungus in that old ricoh lens. Oh well, it is just more of an excuse for me to get the sigma 70-200 that i have been after since i read the first review of it half way through last year.

take care,

Wonderful news! Sorry to hear the ricoh lens isn't any good, but you still have some great glass to work with! Looking foward to seeing some pictures from your new 70-200 (adding another excuse for you to get one!)
