Hello all, I'm new to the world of DSLR cameras so I'm likely to ask really basic/stupid questions.

I've just got myself a Pentax K-m which came with an 18-55 lens and a 50-200 lens.

Welcome, Gex! I remember being terrified to even put on the lens when I got my first SLR - somehow I was sure I was going to break the mount

Trust me, the best way to learn is just to ask!

Welcome Gex.
Good on you for doing the homework yourself - you'll find a lot of what you need to know in books and online, and the rest in the camera (ie. practicing).
Though don't be afraid to ask when need be...
