Hi all Pentaxians

I'm back to this hobby after a long pause, while using mainly point & shot cameras due to economical / lack of time reasons. My main interests (photographic) are nature, landscapes and architecture.

I had for ~10 years a Pentax MZ7 (kit zoom + F80-200) lying around with very little use and it failed last summer when I took my first steps back to photographing, due to high temperature, I guess.

I thought on going back to Canon (my first SRL's back in early 80's were Canon), but after studying the market finally decided to go for a K-7. And I must say I have been happy with the choice.

I've already invested in DA35 F2.8 Macro (seems to be awesome lens) and FA50 F1.4 due to it's great quality/price ratio, but I will need shorter lens in future. I've been thinking of getting a DA12-24 F4 to complete the optics (dropping out the old kit zoom but keeping the F80-200).

Please, feel free to comment my lens choices and especially the future short lens option.

Welcome to the club.
You'll feel right at home here.
Congrats on your purchases and I think you've done might well with your choices.
12-24 is a great ultra wide that produces stunning results, comparable to primes - just depends if you are looking at wide-angles in this focal range. I'd choose it over the Sigma 10-20, but some users prefer the extra 2mm at the wide end.

Enjoy shooting digitally!

Thank's Ash for your reply.
My problem here in Chile is that Pentax is not well known and there's not much to buy locally.
So, I need to wait for a trip abroad or buy via web. And buying through web means extra risk on quality. Thus I prefer Pentax over Sigma and 12-24 gives me much more reach (wide wise) than my old 28-80 kit lens. And with much higher quality as well.

Join the club (oh, I forgot, you already have ) - just about everywhere around the world has this same problem.
I have bought every camera and lens I've ever had from the US (mostly B&H and the forum marketplace) except my first K100D.

The 12-24 is an excellent choice - you'll find it plenty wide for all your landscapes and interior shots.
