Hi from Australia

Hi all,

Just stumbled across this forum while looking for a new lens. Wanted to just introduce myself, I hope to learn alot of new things in this forum. I own a pentax K200D with the basic 18-55mm kit lens and a 50-200mm lens. I'm hoping to get a 50mm f1.4 autofocus soon but they're hard to find where I live. For some reason the store I buy all my lenses from dont have it listed. I have a flickr if anyone wants to check it out, had my DSLR for almost one year now.

G'day there.
Welcome and well done on getting the K200D.
You have a remarkable collection of images - and all with the basic kit setup.
You'll find the 50/1.4 a very creative tool you keep coming back to - if you want it soon, don't hesitate to get it from the reliable US online vendors like B&H, Adorama or KEH. I've bought from all these vendors and have never had a hitch. B&H in particular have very fast shipping - in the order of 3 days after you place the order.

All the best and keep shooting!

Hi. I haven't been here long and have learnt heaps already even by just browsing! I like your pics, my two cats quite often find themselves with a lens in their face....

Good shots you have there. I've had my K200D for just over a year now and have much fun with it.

Welcome from another Aussie.

Hello.

If you find difficult obtain the 50 f/1.4 you could buy the 50 f/1.7 is a great lens (even less expensive) and the manual focus is more simple then you could expected.

Good choice! This lens will suit your portrait work.

Below f/2.8 it becomes progressively softer which sometimes may even be a feature for portraits.

Judging from a flickr comment, you've got one coming your way already. I'm sure you'll like it a lot.

Hello and welcome (although this is my first day also, having just posted my introduction). I'll be visiting Australia in April, and although I'll only be in the Sydney / Manly area for one week before going to Fiji for a couple weeks if you've got any recommendations on things to do/see/photograph in that area I'd love to know.
