Hi,
Welcome to the Pentax forums!

I have a Vivitar 200/3.5 with 8 blades. I don't know that they made an 18 blade version. If they did, it would be an older lens (say pre-1970) with a pre-set aperture.

As for my lens, here is a picture:

There are several members of the forum that own this eight blade version. It was made for a number of years and was available for Pentax in both M42 screw and K-mount. It is a little on the heavy side, but is a very good performer overall. There was some discussion about six months ago about the Viv 200/3.5 vs. the Pentax-M 200/4 and some members felt the Viv was better in all respects except size/weight. There are reviews here:

BTW...It is good to leave an introduction message, but you will get better response for lens-related questions on the SLR Lens Discussion section of the site.

Let us know when you receive your lens. We are always interested in a user's first impressions. You might also be interested in writing a review, particularly if it is a pre-set aperture version of the Vivitar 200/3.5.

Welcome to you and your lens. Perhaps the question would be best suited in the lens discussion. I bet more people check that area out on a regular basis that welcomes and introductions.
