I am a geologist. Hello all.

After graduating college I decided to plunge head-first into photography. After pentaxforums.com user and internet ally deadwolfbones recruited me into his clan of Pentaxians I decided to use a graduation present IOU from the parents and get a k20d. I am currently living in the heart of Canyon Country, USA... otherwise known as Moab, Utah. I will be scouring the lens reviews and beginners threads for useful information and definitely will be posting to the gallery for helpful criticism. Hopefully I will be able to contribute to the community once I gain a little bit of knowledge.

Welcome to the family. Looking forward to your posts from Utah, especially some of those canyon shots.

Thanks. I have taken a bunch of photos so far of the surrounding country, but they have mostly been taken with the camera set to automatic as I haven't really learned the basics yet of exposure or aperture, etc. Bought some digital photography beginners books earlier this summer... I should really get around to reading them.

Another geologist.
Welcome.
Pentax seems to be a favoured brand for this vocation.
Look forward to your images.

Hello NOLA Geologist. First, welcome to the Forum and I look forward to seeing your pictues. Second, you GOTTA come up with a simplified name, or your actual first name, so I don't have to refer to you as NOLA Geologist in every post!!

But really, welcome to the secret society of Pentaxians.

Your name is really fine however you want to do it. I just needed an ice breaker. Its what you are called behind your back that matters.

Welcome to the forum, I think there is a secret plan that geologists are taking over this site.

I'd love to be able to chat with fellow geologists in a sub-forum. By the looks if it, though, this forum has enough sub-forums already.

Welcome Geologist,

Hello from another geologist!

I got my degree back in the Miocene. I did some engineering geology for a while before moving over to computer programming. What type of geology do you do?

What kind of camera and lens setup have you used for field work?
