Potential Pentaxian from Vancouver Island B.C.

Hello. Just sayin hi as I hate being a total lurker.
I am looking to get a new camera and so have been trying to do my research. I have so little experience in slrs as to basically have none. I did play around with a Pentax k100o in highschool, and tried doing a little developing. I really enjoyed it but fell out of it untill recently. I was talked into getting a panasonic dmc FZ28 to see if I would like photography and I do. I am not very good at it yet and even though I am still just getting used to this camera I know that I need more from it.
I must say I am overwhelmed with all the things to think about and different opinions, reviews and specs to read through. I am 90% sure that I am going with the Pentax K7 if I had to go another way then my other 10% is leaning on a Nikon D300s. but I like the price of the k7 better.
Either way, I am hoping to pick up a set within the next 2-3 months, so hopefully I'll be back to learn and share more then.

Work that Panasonic for a while. It's actually a very nice camera. The adjustable and custom scene settings make the equipment capable of some surprisingly detailed images.

After mastering the Panasonic, you'll immediately get great results when it's time to move up to the K7.

Welcome gordzilla.
It's all about the journey of discovery, which you can achieve with even the simplest of cameras.
Master what you can do with the Panasonic, and when you find you desire more capabilities, do get the K-7 - it's a mighty fine camera.
