Recovering Canonite moving to Pentaxia

Hi all!

Nice to find a forum dedicated to Pentax!

I'm in the process of transitioning from Canon digital/film and Oly film to Pentax digital and film. Lots of stuff to sell!

The primary attractions are Pentax ability to easily use a number of my favorite Tamron Adaptall lenses and, of course, SR. Nothing against Pentax glass but I miss the 'signatures' of my Tamrons for digi-work.

Welcome Scottax1. I know you'll find it a great place. (Oh BTW we don't hold any grudges against the competition).

Tamron's huh. I've never used one. What gives your images the Tamron "signature"?

I just sold my Canon stuff (5D & 2 lenses) as well, and ordered a k10D & 31 FA. I want SR with every lens and the ability to use old manual focus glass with a dslr. Canon stuff is too expensive, and I had too much money wrapped up in it. I'm looking forward to receiving and using some Pentax gear. It will be refreshing.

Thanks, PT! Hey, it's all about Art; how can there be competition?

Matt, the SP (so help me, "Super Performance") lenses in the Tamron line can be exceptional. I particularly like the 35-80. It has a way of rendering images is that relatively easy to see but tough to describe. The balance of resolution and contrast seems just 'right' so you get lots of detail without being hit over the head with it. Also, the bokeh is very smooth.

Like you I'm moving to Pentax to get SR with every lens, not just the ones Canon deigns to endow with IS at exorbitant prices. Add proper function of my Tamrons and other MF lenses and woo-hoo! EOS treats non-EF lenses like dirt.

I'm still trying to decide between the K100D and the K10D. I suspect there a more than a couple threads on that subject buried in the archives!

Cheers!/Scottax1
