Hey All,

I am a department editor for a regional outdoor publication. I started shooting as a necessity to aquire the art needed for my articles. I eventually found that I enjoyed photography as much as writing.

I am pretty much a Luddite about DSLR's, but I've learned a ton over the last few years and was recently rewarded for the efforting. I shot my first cover a few months back. <Patting self on the back>

Gear: K100D, K200D

Lenses: Kit 18-55DA and 55-200DA, old Pentax M 50mm prime

Looking to upgrade on the 55-200mm because it's just to darn slow acquiring focus and I keep missing some money action shots.

Welcome. I'm sure you'll find plenty of opinions on the longer lenses here, at least. (Don't look at me, I haven't tried any of them yet. )

Well done on the cover.
Longer lenses with fast AF? You'd be looking at the 70-200 f/2.8 varieties or the DA* 50-135 if 135mm is not too short for you. Otherwise there are long prime lenses that may suit (if you like fixed focal lengths).
