Hello from Germany (again)

Hi - it's Frank.
I'm running the site Taunusreiter Homepage which is probably the most visited German camera and collectors site, and has an important part regarding PENTAX.
It's main part of interest are the years between 1955-1962.
It's a matter of historical interest for me. It's the question why the German camera industry failed against the Japanese. I found many answers to it, but one of the simpliest is probably: they failed because the Japanese cameras looked better. And they worked at least as good.
PENTAX was my favorite camera when I came to photography. The first "real" camera was a SL500 (Spotmatic series) from my father which he received from a friend and professional photographer. He used Pentax. It's simply not true that all prof's were addicted to Nikon. Even at age 14 I recognized: this is how a camera should look like.
So when I bought my first SLR from my own money when I was 16, it was a Pentax ME. I would prefered to have a MX added to, but couldn't afford it. Solely one lens, a SMC-M 50/1.4 (very sharp). Later on I changed the set in favor of a Minolta X700. But I always looked for used MX's in the shop windows...
In the EBAY times (and when digital took over) film cameras went cheap. So I bought some of my little dreams of the past. I found also that the MX has roots in the Pentax history, since the cameras of the 1950's were also small and delicate.
The nicest camera series Pentax ever build for me is the S-series: the camera that founded the name PENTAX.
I'm still not fully digitalized. If I ever buy a DSLR it will be probably a Pentax. But in general, I still dont't like the whole idea of DSLRs and believe they will be out of the market in a few years (except for professional applictions) in favor of some micro-3/4 life view cameras, which can be build much smaller.
I hope Pentax will continue in the market then.

let's enjoy the forum,

Frank

Wow - welcome Frank.
Glad to have you on board.
Quite a story there - you're a well-seasoned Pentaxian.
Look forward to more of your contributions here.

Hallo Frank eben erst gelesen,
