Hello!
I'm an American currently living in central Japan, and my contract says I teach English but it's more baby-sitting kindergarteners in English than actually teaching.
I'm originally from Ohio, and fell in love with my grandfather's old Pentax Spotmatic when he gave it, along with several lenses and filters, to me back in high school. I wish I could have brought it to Japan with me, but alas I couldn't.
As a result, I ended up picking up a K200D in May with a SMC Pentax DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL II and a SMC Pentax DA 50-200mm F4-5.6 ED for $498 on a clearance sale at the local mall's camera store. The salesman was so giddy a foreigner was buying something from him, that he gave me this relatively thick "Intro to Pentax K200D" guide for free as Japanese reading practice when I bought it.
Recently I've also purchased an adapter to use with my grandfather's old lenses, and have had my mother send my Soligor 28mm Wide-Auto lens to test it out. Oh man do I miss the split screen/microprism collar focus screen from the Spotmatic. It's so weird looking through the viewfinder and not seeing the split or the collar.
Yay for long, drawn out introductions fuel by sleep settling in!
Good night and よろしくお願いします!
