Hokie Hi

Hello, as it says in the title I'm a student at VT, i have a Pentax K20d with just the kit 18-55 mm lens. looking to get something better. not sure if i just want to buy a sigma or save for a DA*.

Also I just got into photography, so I'll be using the beginners section quite a bit.

Welcome Hokie, although I'm not 100% sure all forum members "get it", those of us from VA will suffer with you as your team slips down the polls this week.
Back on topic, you have great location for landscape shots so hopefully you will post some Fall colors if its not too late. Other than that you have landed in the right place for a new Pentax shooter.

Now cut a class or two and get up to Mountain Lake and shoot a few landscapes to post!

If you are going into landscapes and are thinking of adding a lens to your collection then the Sigma 10-20mm Ultra Wide Angle lens would probably suit what you want to do. A good sharp lens that won't break your bank account.

Another hello there from Virginia. I haven't had time for the foliage so you have been officially assigned to pick up the slack!

Welcome mate.
Hope you find the forum useful for you.
Have a look at the forum's lens review database also for more information and reviews about the lens you want to upgrade to.
Look forward to your posts!

definitely can't go wrong with the DA*! nice thing is, if you end up getting out of photography, you can sell it here. They hold their value pretty darn well from what I can tell. Welcome!
