hey, y'all...from NC

just had the FedEx guy drop off my new K-x yesterday and was immediately directed to these forums by a friend. i'm new to the (d)SLR movement although i've enjoyed photography for years. currently i've just got the kit lens which will have to do me for a while until i can save up for something else. i've got my eye on the SMCP-DA 40 f/2.8 as well as a couple other lenses.

any suggestions on what lenses and/or accessories to get down the road would be awesome.

so yeah, thanks in advance for all the help i'm sure i'll receive and it's hella good that i'm finally here!!

Hey and welcome. There's a few NCers here. I'm a couple hours NW of you towards Hot Springs and TN.
The kit lens is a great learning tool if you're new to DSLRs. Read your cam manual and try all the different modes, etc, anything you don't understand just search for it here. There's more info on this forum than my little brain can keep track of.
For your next lens choice one method is to keep track of the focal length you use most on the kit lens. If you shoot most of your photos in the 40mm range then a DA40 would be a logical choice for a 2nd lens.
Another lens choice method (which I prefer) is to just troll through the lens DB here and develop a lust for good Pentax glass and purchase them all for no particular reason.
It's called LBA (lens buying addiction).

Welcome here.
Hope you enjoy the forum.
The little DA 40 is a well-acclaimed lens that should impress you. Otherwise, the FA 50 f/1.4 is another cost-effective option that performs well in low-light conditions.

Have a look at the forum's lens review database under the reviews tab above for more information (but be weary of LBA - lens buying addiction )
