First off, I'm from Belgium born 1960 and have (excluding my wife and daughter) 2 big hobbies
I've been busy with square dancing since 1983. In 1985 I started as caller, and this has been my biggest pasttime.
More recent I got myself into photography. In 2004 I bought my first digital camera ...
-----------------
As many people I don't know when I didn't have a camera, but I almost never used it. Just the time I had to wait between taking a Picture and being able to see it was the reason. I kept looking at the digital camera's but decided that I wouldn't start with that before there was an affordable 3MP.
So some years back I got my first digital, a cheap samsung look alike, 4MP, extremely slow focusing with all the problems you can think of. I still have a love hate relationship with this camera. But it showed me what I wanted for my next camera.
When I got the change to upgrade, I wasn't going to make the same mistakes. After searching every forum, website, my preference went to the 'just released'
Panasonic FZ5. 5MP, Leica Lens, 35-420mm equivalent, Image stabilisation, ... the only 2 things not on it where a flash hotshoe, and manual focus.
I'm still very happy with this cam.
And the story continues, december 2006 I got to make the decission what would be the upgrade. The choise was then between the K100D from Pentax, the Sony Alfa100 and the to be released K10D from Pentax.
In the end I choise for the most complete of those 3. Why Canon and Nikon weren't in the equation -- very simple -- SR (shake reduction). Canon and Nikon have some great dslr's but they only have SR in their lenses, and that is just to expensive for my taste.
Two months later this was my setup
So I ended up with again with a Samsung look alike - a
Pentax k10d
although this time I'm on the better side of the equation
Missing is a vivitar series 1 - 70-210mm , and coming a Sigma supper500
