new for you, but not for me

Hi,

My name is Iris and I have been reading this forum for many months now. So I don't feel new at all, but I finally decided to register myself. One of my colleagues (Rense) is really happy with his Pentax K20d and told me about this forum. I like making photo’s, but I don't use Pentax (yet) and I don't have a SLR, but thinking about it! But the weight of the camera’s is still holding me back…..

Welcome to the forum. If you decide to go Pentax, you'll find lots of helpful people here. In fact, you can learn a lot from Rense.

Thanks Oldscool and Ahab for the welcome.

Oldscool: I know I can learn a lot from Rense and he likes to teach . He often tries when we are outside working together (and that's often). With many of his (work related) nature pictures I was somewhere around (for example his coastal nature pictures and sandscapes).

Ahab: I am sure I can find something, but first have to make up my mind!

Welcome Iris - a new forum recruit!
(Well done Rense...)
Rense has been invaluable to this forum, and you'll find him very helpful.
And I'm sure he can also point you in the direction of the camera (and lenses) that will suit you most.

Hi Rense! I thought I am here so often that registering would give me the advantage to participate! Now I can ask questions to other people in my quest for a new camera!

After thinking, reading, more thinking and discussing things with Martijn and Rense, I had three choices left:

K-x (not weather resistant, light)
K20d (weather resistant, heavy and big for my small hands)
K-7 (weather resistant, a bit lighter, but expensive)

After more thinking and reading I finally made a decision!
Today I bought the Pentax……K-7!

Congratulations! I'm officially jealous - both that you have a nice, new K-7 and that you live in the mild climate of coastal Europe for taking photos. Glad to have you here, and hope to see your photos soon.

Thank you!
You are right about the mild climate, but the last two days it is incredibly grey and wet, so being outside isn't much fun here either!
