Newbie from Hawaii

My first Pentax was bought in 1965 for $50 and have continued to update my equipment as new models became available. As an active botanist, my interest is primarily macro-photography. Currently I use a K-10D with smc-FA 100 mm macro, but next week will order a K-7D, new 100 mm macro and AF160C ring flash. I also will add the Pentax smcp-da 17-70mm for my K-10D. I continue to strive for the perfect
macro picture and am always open to suggestion even though my macro library is
approaching 8000 K-10D images and many 1000's more still in slide format.
I might start posting a few shots in the gallery for comment.

Welcome to the forum John.
Hope you find this group resourceful for your purposes.
There are quite a few of us macro and botanical-type enthusiasts here. Certainly no expertise in the area myself - just love photographing picturesque nature scenes.

Just out of curiosity, is there anything you feel lacking in your existing FA 100 macro that you believe the DFA 100 macro will fill?

Please do. I love macros and cannot wait to get a Sigma 70/2.8 EX.

Welcome to the forum John. I like macro photography too. I use a Tamron 90mm f2.8 for my macro shots. It's been awhile since I've been to the islands. Great place for photography huh?
