Hi from Toronto!

Hey there,

I joined up on here because it seems that it could be a great and useful resource for knowledge. I am new to photography in all, and have been a hobbyist for about a year and a half. I really enjoy it, fantastic hobby!

I started off with a Samsung GX-10 (K10D copy) which I picked up in Nigeria, as it was the only option available in the DSLR market there. Picked up a few lenses here and there. Just today purchased a new Pentax K-7 body. Im reading through the manual, playing with the camera, and reading online resources right now.

Anyways, hope to learn alot here.

Congratulations on your new camera!
I just bought a K-7 myself, so I know how it feels!
I have been reading this forum a bit longer, I can already tell you it's a very friendly and helpful forum.

Hello fellow Torontonian, welcome! I too am new to Pentax and this Forum. I will be getting a K-7 for Christmas from my family (wife + 2 sons).

Have you figured out yet what lenses you are interested in ... I am going pancake ... DA ltd 21, 40, and 70mm.

Welcome to the forums, Osad (and rhe + drzinc)! The Toronto Pentaxians are a feisty bunch, who like to get together and swap stories and lenses on occasion.

If you feel like it, join the "Social Group" we have here on the forums. Its mainly used to mass-PM members about upcoming outings or special events (like trying out the K-7 before almost everyone else worldwide... 2 days after announcement!).

Thanks for the warm welcomes everybody! I joined the group, would LOVE to get into some group stuff, never tried that before. Looking forward to the upcoming season!

My father lived and worked in Nigeria for 30 years in construction. So I went to visit him, and was looking to grab a DSLR and get into photography. The only option available, surprisingly enough, was the GX10. However, you could get the N96 Nokia 6 months before it came out in North America... very backwards development ahah.
