Hi, I'm new to DSLR and made the step up before our most summer vacation. I'm also new to photography, so it's a lot to learn! I chose Pentax because of everything I've read about the "bang for the buck" factor....and because I'm a "maximizer" with tech purchases rather than your typical lemming, both in terms of quality and price.
My other hobbies include shooting, cigars and pipes, beer and wine, BMW motorcycles and collecting 1/500 scale diecast model airliners. I'm excited about what my newest hobby can do to enhance the others. I probably didn't need another hobby, and certainly didn't need another costly one...but this is surely a wholesome one (I'll keep telling myself that as I spend more money

) I'm one of those people who accumulates stuff faster than I can learn to use it. I hope that with the camera, however, you reach a point where you have what you need. Someone please tell me I'm right! I've already picked up on the concept of "Lens Buying Addiction," (and find myself at risk for it) which sounds very similar to "Black Rifle Disease" or BRD, commonly diagnosed in members of another forum I frequent.
I live in the DC area and have already had the pleasure of meeting one local Pentaxian. Finding time to go take pictures is tough when you live in an area with long commute times, which is why I find the macro concept so appealing - there's so much to photograph right in and around the home!
I've been lurking here for a month or two, and look forward to learning more.
