Hi all, bought my K10D a week after it came out in November, liking it very much. The 18-55mm kit lens ... well, I guess it's OK. The 50-200 and 50 f/1.4 are more enjoyable.
I bought my Nikon FE2 a month after it came out in 1984 (I think), and the Pentax Spotmatic a month after *it* came out in 1965 (or whenever it was). So I don't buy new SLRs very often, but thoroughly enjoy them for a long time.
Why not Nikon, considering I have a fair number of favorite AI-S lenses? Well, Nikon isn't very nice about supporting classic AI-S all-mechanical manual-focus lenses - unless you spring for a D200 or higher, they shut off the metering. (I guess the camera detects the absence of electrical contacts, and there's no mechanical aperture linkage.) Thanks a LOT, Nikon!
I'll be keeping the AI-S lens collection for the present, and wait for the price of the D200 to fall - a lot. I'm not in any hurry, especially now that I'm in the Pentax camp once again.
I'm undecided between the DA 16-45 and the Sigma 17-70, so I'll be posting elsewhere on that one. Good to see the forum!!!
