Newbie from the Emerald Isle

Merry Christmas everyone.

Lazy xmas afternoon and I'm still reasonably sober so thought I'd hook up with some fellow Pentax fans.

Photography is meant to be a paying hobby but more a hobby than paying at present (www.justinseye.com) but hopefully things can only get better.

My first foray into dSLR's was with a Pentax ist which for some stupid reason I felt needed upgrading so I went for a err urmm... Canon 30d. Big mistake, now out of my life and when I look back at my files the pictures the Pentax were producing were better than the bigger Canon. Hope to buy a K20d soonish (anybody selling?) and some more lenses, meanwhile I have a Mamiya ZD for studio work. I do some very basic websites as well and the ist I find is just the job for the photos-

www.vet-tipperary.com

Also have a ESII which I love to use on occasion- Near New Ross

So I'm back in the Pentax fold and looking for ward to some decent slr photography again!

Welcome to the group Justin!

I love my new K20D, and as one other member put it, "I'll still trying to earn the right to own the K20D."

I hope to see more of your photos with your "soonishly" purchased K20D.

Welcome Justin.
And merry Christmas.
Hope you enjoy your time with us on the forum.
You're bound to find a K20D somewhere, whether on this forum's marketplace, Adorama or locally, so keep looking out for it - you'll certainly find it quite the workhorse.

Thanks for the welcome.

The K20 isn't a necessity just yet as the ist punches well above its weight but frame rate and pixel count will need addressing at some point. I tend to shoot to RAW with everything on manual (except focus) so it's the Pentax skin tones and lens quality that appeals as much as the bells and whistles of the later model.

Justin.
