I am a new Pentax K-x owner living in Greece.
I started my hobby as a small boy with an Olympus OM-1, and moved to a Canon A-1 while in the States, my first auto-focus camera was a Canon eos e50D with a good 28-105 usm lens. In 2007 I decided it was time to move into the digital world since my desk was full of film and slide scanners, scsii cables and all that stuff.
My first choice was the finepix f31fd, still carry it everywhere i go and love it.
My bridge camera was a finepix s9600/s9100 which I sold recently and started looking for my first real DSLR.
The two candidates were a Nikon D5000 and the Eos500D. So I started reading every review and test I could find on the net. In one of the D5000 reviews I saw the comparison high iso shots with the K-x (which I only knew cause of the four color body ads), and felt really surprised. After seeing more reviews and shots I decided to go with the Pentax and the two kit lens 18-55 and 50-200, which also saved me over 200€ (to spend on a new ext. drive and a new charger with Imedion cells). My decision had to do a lot with the reputation of the Pentax (Asahi) among the old school photographers in my early years as a newbie amateur. I knew deep inside that I was going to get a well build camera and lenses but I had no idea of its performance, only what I read and trusted in the net reviews.
You can imagine my surprise when I saw my first K-x high iso shots on my screen !
I was thrilled ! Still have a permanent smile on my face.
Then I started testing the camera in different light conditions and with different subjects to get accustomed with all the settings and modes.
My test shots can be found here:

I also tested the RAW conversion software (PDCU 4.11) that came with the camera and decided it does a better job than ACR 5.6beta(or AC5.5).
My best K-x photo so far, and one of the first i took, here:

Of course I found some negative points on the K-x. but in the end this camera is much more than I paid for and that is something I hadn't felt for a long long time.
Proud to be a new Pentaxian, I thank you for your hospitality.
